Kehinde Wiley. OS Gemeos. Eddie Martinez. These are just a few of the incredible artists that are on display at Casa Maxima, the newest addition to the Cocoon family. One of the most remarkably designed and curated homes that we’ve come across, Maxima is a piece of art in itself. Glorious pink venetian-plastered walls, stunning gold-foiled columns, alluring selections of wallpaper, and glamorous touches of velvet and leather throughout the space come together to present a one-of-a-kind home that also doubles as an art gallery.

The Vision
Does anything come to mind when you see the bright pink walls at Casa Maxima? If you’re thinking of the renowned Palazzo Chupi that fearlessly stands out in Manhattan’s West Village skyline, there’s a good reason for it! An architectural icon with a celebrity-studded residential roster, the bold pink exteriors of Palazzo Chupi by Julian Schnapel was a huge inspiration to the owners of Maxima when they were gathering ideas for the renovation. Working with their designer, Maria Berman, and moving from one room to the next, the owners of Maxima completed their own masterpiece.
THE LIVING ROOM: the heart and center of the home.
The Space
Originally built in 1920 for a printing factory, the building features an industrial structure with unusually thick floors meant to hold extremely heavy equipment, as well as high ceilings and large paned windows. Because of this foundation, Casa Maxima lends itself well to activities like productions that require easy freight access and exceptional sound-proofing. After being converted to a residential building in 1999, Maxima has been the backdrop to many holidays and dinner parties. Fun Fact – the building itself is also famously home to Jay-Z and Beyonce!
THE FAMILY ROOM: a bright, circular sofa as the centerpiece for game nights, movie viewings, and gatherings.
The Name – Casa Maxima
The first words that come to mind as you step into Casa Maxima are probably going to be along the lines of – glamorous, luxurious, extravagance, and eccentricity. The materials, the colors, and the decor all effortlessly come together to create this sense of glamour while still maintaining the feeling of coziness and intimacy. “Maxima” means greatest in many Latin-based languages and expresses that maximalist and grand presence of the home.
We invite you to experience this grandeur and spectacle and take the time to really absorb all the fine details and artistry that are integrated throughout this magnificent space.

What’s Next?
Onto another spectacular project – “We are renovating a Lloyd Wright home we bought in LA, it was built in 1950 and has been barely touched so we want to retain as much as we can while updating it with modern conveniences.”
The team at Cocoon is excited to see the completion of yet another incredible home.
